Piotr Błajet - professor at the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the
Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. He is also the director of the University
Sports Center at the Nicolaus Copernicus University. A graduate of the Academy
of Physical Education in Warsaw, where he also defended his doctoral thesis in
sports physiology. He obtained the academic title of professor in the field of social
sciences in 2014. In his scientific work, he uses an integral paradigm, combining
the biological and humanistic approaches, addressing issues related to health,
body, love, sexuality, education, health training, and adult development. He gives
lectures, among others. in the field of biomedical foundations of human
development, health education, basics of health training, sports psychopedagogy,
health in seniors. He is the president of the "Bridge to the People" foundation, one
of the main goals of which is to promote bridge playing among seniors as an
activity that prevents senile dementia and Alzheimer's disease. He is a member of
the "Bridge and Science" committee of the World Bridge Federation. He is a
member of the Polish Olympic Academy. For over 20 years he was a basketball
coach in children's and youth sports and professional sports, and also worked as a
physical education teacher. He has a master coaching class. He is also a yoga
instructor. His non-professional passions include classical music and jazz, poetry
by Wisława Szymborska, mountain and road biking, jogging, swimming in open
water reservoirs, and cross-country skiing. His most important works: "Body as a
pedagogical category (2006), Sketches on agonistic education (2008), Love.

Legal adviser, entered on the list of legal advisers kept by OIRP in Gdańsk. She graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdańsk. She specialises in civil and insurance law. In the period of: 2001r. - until May 2023. Director of the Legal Offices of the ERGO Hestia Group Insurance Companies, where she built a team of highly competent specialists. Participant of numerous trainings and conferences in the field of insurance and management programmes (e.g. organised by Harvard Business School Publishing and Leon Koźmiński Academy).
She has extensive professional, litigation and managerial experience in the field of insurance, which she uses as a legal advisor and management consultant.
Since 2003, she has been actively involved in the structures of the Polish Insurance Association. For several years, she has been the chairwoman of the Legal and Legislative Committee of the Polish Insurance Association. For her work and activities she has been honoured with, among others, the badge "For Merits to Insurance" and the Silver and Gold Cross of Merit.
Arbitrator of the Court of Arbitration at the Financial Supervision Authority in the term: 2023 - 2027.
A long-standing member of the National Chamber of Legal Advisers and former Dean of the Regional Chamber of Legal Advisers in Gdańsk. Also involved in training activities for trainees at the Regional Chamber of Legal Advisers in Gdańsk.

of Poland.
Founder and for years President of the Gratus Law Firm in Sopot, well-known,
respected and valued among the top hundred Polish law firms.
Distinguished Legal Advisor awarded by the National Chamber of Legal Advisors.
Recently retired.
Married, two children, four grandchildren. He is passionate about bridge, traveling,
good music and good books.

social activities lover. Member of the Board of the Red Rose Association for students of the Pomeranian
Voivodeship. Self-employed entrepreneur for 30 years. Together with her family she runs a small
production Company in Gdańsk. She has 4 dogs and also helps other people to bring them up and live in
good conditions. In his free time, which is still not very much, she plays bridge with his friends and is
involved in social activities.

Małgorzata Maruszkin - philologist, graduate of Iberian Studies at the University of Warsaw, English
translator, editor and publishing consultant. She worked as a translator and editor for National
Geographic, was a publisher of non-fiction at Bertelsmann Poland - Świat Książki publishing house
and a publishing director at PWN. She has published about a thousand books, translated several
dozen, and reads compulsively. She has been playing bridge since she was 14, and after a break for
intensive professional work and raising children, she returned to the ranks of bridge players. She was
a spokeswoman for the Polish Bridge Sports Association and the PZBS Plenipotentiary for the
Brydż60+ Programme. She writes for "World of Bridge", promotes bridge, organises courses and
trainings, and works socially to promote social and generational integration and prevent exclusion of
the elderly. She loves travelling and the sun.

mathematics ), got his PhD in 1985.
A retired mathematics teacher at the Gdańsk University of Technology.
Member of the Polish Bridge Union from 1969 and member of the District Board
from 1979 till 2012, then became a member of the board of PBU ( 2012) and its
Deputy President in 2016.

- WBF Senior Committee and Chairman of Bridge & Science Committee
Author of „BRIDGE 60 +” ( 310 new clubs for older people across Poland) and
„Play bridge with grandchildren” programs, presented to EBL members NBOs on a
few Seminars and to 3 Zones during WBF Seminars in Medellin, Cape Town and
Singapore.
To run and finance scientific research about bridge Foundation, „Bridge to the
People” has been created and is its Scientific Council Chairman.
WBF has published the first results of the research on its web page, and they are
continued with the help of many sponsors.
The first in the history of the Bridge International Scientific Conference in Toruń (
Poland) was organised in 2018 with the presence of WBF and EBL Presidents
Gianarrigo Rona and Yves Aubry and scientists from many countries. Also, the
second Conference was organised in Toruń in 2019 with Nicolaus Copernicus
University.
Organises every year Bridge Forest Trophy, Invitational Teams Tournament for
friends from 15 countries playing serious bridge for three days in the middle of the
forest in a friendly atmosphere.
In 2016 and 2022, I was the on-site organiser of the World Bridge Games in
Wrocław.
He played several Transnational World Championships with his friends from
Europe. He was a non-playing captain of the Polish U-20 team in the European
and World Championships and coach of the Polish Ladies Team in Opatija 2016.

Antoni Zbigniew Nowakowski (born 6 July 1943 in Kraków) - Polish engineer, specialist in
biocybernetics and biomedical engineering, professor of technical sciences, university
lecturer. In 1967 he graduated in biomedical engineering at the Faculty of Electronics of the
Warsaw University of Technology. He obtained further degrees at the Gdansk University of
Technology, with which he became professionally associated. He received his doctorate in
1973 and his habilitation in 1985. In 1991, he became an associate professor at the Gdansk
University of Technology, and in 2000 he was awarded the title of professor of technical
sciences, later becoming a full professor at PG. At the university he was, inter alia, head of
the scientific and research team for thermal issues (1976-1990), deputy director of the
Institute of Electronic Technology (1981-1989), and vice-rector for general affairs (1990-
1996). He organised and headed the Department of Medical and Environmental Electronics,
and stood at the head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering. He became a board
member of the Polish Society for Biomedical Engineering and vice-president of the Polish
Society for Sensor Technology. Appointed to scientific committees and commissions of the
Polish Academy of Sciences and the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences, scientific and
advisory boards, and editorial boards of professional journals. Awards and distinctions:
Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (2012), Officer's Cross of the Order of
Polonia Restituta (2002), Gold Cross of Merit Medal of the Commission of National
Education.

Patricia Denner Cayne, PhD is a speech and language learning therapist who worked at the
League for the Hard of Hearing, Kennedy Child Study Center, and Marymount Manhattan
College. She studied with Dr. Anderson at NY's Mount Sinai Hospital learning to perform
neuroanatomy autopsies. Her expertise is teaching language to preschoolers who are the deaf
or neurologically impaired.
She holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania College for Women, as well
as master's degrees in both Speech Pathology and Educational Psychology from Columbia
University, where she also received a PhD in Psychology. She is a life member of the American
Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).[1]
She was an active member of the following boards: The U.S. National Institute of Deafness and
Other Communication Disorders (NIH/NICDCD), the 92nd St Y, and The NY League for the Hard
of Hearing.[1] Dr. Cayne has also been on the advisory boards of Sharsheret,[2]
the Deafness
Research Foundation (DRF), Sonomax Technologies Inc.,[1]
the Next for Autism,[3]
the Food
Allergy Initiative (FAI),[4] Hearing Health Foundation,[5] and Columbia Presbyterian's Gray
Matters.[6]
Dr. Cayne's hobbies are decorative painting and competitive bridge. She won her first North
American National tournament, the Jacoby Open Swiss Teams, in March 2017. In the 90's, with
Kathie Wei-Sender, she organized the bridge matches between Corporate America vs. U.S.
Congress and the House of Lords and the House of Commons.
In 1969, Patricia Denner met James Cayne, a national bridge competitor, at a bridge
tournament. After Pat gave him an ultimatum: "Get a real job or find a new girlfriend," he joined
Bear Stearns as a retail broker.
Awards
As an advocate for breast cancer patients she was awarded the Third Annual Roz and Les
Goldstein Unsung Hero Award in 2009.[7]
She was honored by the Hineni organization for hosting the Hineni Torah study classes given
by Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis.
The Food Allergy Initiative honored Dr. Cayne for her participation in alerting the country to
deaths from anaphylaxis.
